BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The incumbent serves as the Protocol Specialist.  S/he provides protocol guidance and assistance to the Chief of Mission, Deputy Chief of Mission and other Mission officers and coordinates official representational events, including those events taking place at the Chief of Mission and Deputy Chief of Mission residences.  Incumbent coordinates closely with host government officials and other members of the host government.  Incumbent supervises the junior protocol assistant and is supervised by the Ambassador's Office Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
NOTE:  All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
1.  Education required:  Completion of both 'O' and 'A' level is required.  Completion of a university degree in business administration, liberal arts, or science is required.
2. Work Experience required: Five years of progressive work experience assisting managing directors, chief executive officers, members of boards managing protocol activities, office management, public relations, secretarial or managing executive services is required.
3.  Language required:  Level IV (fluent - written and spoken) English ability is required.
4. Knowledge required: An extensive knowledge of host government political, social, economic, cultural, and commercial leadership is required. A comprehensive knowledge of Ugandan protocol guidelines, general etiquette, social usage and customs or issues affecting offices and individuals with which post has contact, is required.  Familiarity with the government and private business hierarchies are also required. Familiarity with American culture, U.S. policies and interests, and social customs is preferred.
5. Skills and Abilities required: Ability to deal effectively and discreetly with high level official, political, social and business figures is required.  Ability to use Windows based computer applications including MS Word, and Excel, and excellent typing skills is required.  Initiative, discretion and the ability to work independently is required.  Exceptional interpersonal skills, tact, sensitivity and maturity to deal comfortably with high ranking officials from both Ugandan and the U.S. is required. Occasional evening, weekend and overtime work is required.
SELECTION PROCESS
After an initial application screening, applicants will be invited to a testing process that may include a written examination and oral interviews.  The selected candidate must pass pre-employment medical and security investigations before beginning work.  The initial appointment period is one year, subject to renewal.
Normally, candidates for employment are hired at the first step of the designated pay grade.  In some instances, candidates may be hired at a higher step when exceptional qualifications or previous governmental service and pay level so warrant.  The Human Resources Officer will make the decision with the concurrence of the employing section.

1.Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and visa status in determining successful candidacy.
2.Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.

Feed the Future is the United States Government's global hunger and food security initiative. It supports country-driven approaches to address the root causes of hunger and poverty and forge long-term solutions to chronic food insecurity and under-nutrition. These three food security positions are based in Kampala, Mbarara and Gulu as noted below.
Purpose of Position.
These positions are aimed at providing technical leadership and expertise to Peace Corps’ Feed the Future Interagency Partnership.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work within Peace Corps’  FtF team to define and implement Peace Corps’ feed the future and food  security activities in assigned region.
• Coordinate with USAID/Uganda, regarding the post’s food security activities.
• Compile program reports for PC/Uganda, USAID/Uganda and PC/HQ to demonstrate the use and impact of PC/Uganda’s contributions to Feed the Future.
• Develop over 40 Volunteer work sites with partners throughout Uganda.
• Provide technical resource information and technical training and coaching to Volunteers and their counterparts, utilizing, where effective,  the Volunteer Agriculture Think Tank.
• Assist Volunteers in monitoring their work and reporting outcomes.
• Co-develop, manage and engage a Project Advisory Committee to contribute to program effectiveness..
Qualifications and Experience:
• Education: Master in Business, Agro-business, Marketing, Agriculture or related field or appropriate education and professional experience mix.
• Experience: 5 years required, 10 years is desirable, in the field of marketing and agribusiness, finance and business, agro business development.
• Peace Corps Uganda is looking for a dynamic and experience professional in agriculture/business field to fill the Feed the Future Coordinator positions.
