Marketing Technical Officer Job Vacancy at Malaria Consortium in Uganda


Job title: Marketing Technical Officer.
Department: Technical.
Reports To: UNIT AID Diagnostics Project Manager.
Direct Reports: None.
Length of contract: 2 years.
Job Purpose:
The Marketing Technical officer is responsible for developing and overseeing sales and marketing activities geared towards increasing the market share for quality assured malaria rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) in the private sector.
Summary of Key Accountabilities:
Technical contributions
 Develop and implement a sales and marketing strategy, marketing plans, set up systems to monitor sales and marketing progress, carryout market research and surveys, marketing and promotional campaigns etc.
Capacity building
 Work with relevant Malaria Consortium staff to develop the capacity of key stakeholders/partner through capacity needs assessments, and tailor designed training and supervision packages and with the M& E officer document the outcomes of the project’s capacity development activities amongst key stakeholder/partners.
Supply chain management;
 Responsible for estimating the size of the RDT market and forecasting demand over time as well as with project’s partners to develop procurement and distribution plans to ensure uninterrupted availability of quality assured RDT stock in the private sector pipeline.
 Work with the project’s partners and the national regulatory authority (NDA) to ensure in-country quality testing and approval of the project’s enhanced RDT brands.
Supervision;
 Work with the Project Manager to ensure that all market partner contracts include specifications for the internal monitoring required of them, the reporting systems to report as specified and any penalties for lack of adherence to the specifications.
Documentation and communications;
 Review project reports to synthesize key findings and share them as appropriate.
Technical performance management and Quality Assurance.
 Work with the Project Manager and Technical Programme Coordinator to put in place a system to assure the quality of the work and participate in monitoring the performance of the Programme.
Representation;
 Participate in relevant meetings at national and sub-national levels and where possible present results and experiences of the project.
Person Specifications.
Essential;
 An undergraduate degree in marketing, public relations, behavior change communication, or a relevant subject
 Advanced training or qualification in marketing, business administration or similar.
 At least 3 to 5 years’ of direct work experience in a marketing or sales capacity.
 Experience in designing and/or implementing marketing strategies.
 Proven experience in marketing research.
 Experience in translating data into accessible reports for diverse audiences.
Desirable;
 Experience in data analysis and evaluation.
 Knowledge of project management techniques and tools.
 Familiar with the Ugandan health system.
 Familiar with the health commodities market in Uganda.
 Experience in writing project reports.
 Experience and skills in training and transfer of knowledge.
