Heifer International started working in Uganda in 1982. What began as a small project distributing a handful of cows, has expanded into one of Uganda’s leading agricultural and community development organizations.

Job Description:

As a youth and engagement coordinator at Heifer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing programs that inspire and empower young people to become agents of change in their communities. You will work closely with schools, youth groups, and other partners to deliver educational activities, workshops, and events that promote Heifer's mission and values. You will also coordinate volunteer opportunities, fundraising campaigns, and advocacy initiatives that engage youth in Heifer's work. You will be part of a dynamic and diverse team that is committed to creating a more just and sustainable world.


Duties and Responsibilities:


*The Youth and engagement coordinator is primarily responsible for facilitating and coordinating youth engagement activities in line with the BAYE project youth engagement strategy. The position will report directly to the Project Director while working closely with the gender and safeguarding specialist


*He/she shall laise with the consortium partners to deliver strategies for mobilizing and engaging youth including women, girls, and persons with disabilities within the agribusiness and non-agribusiness ecosystem.


*He/she shall coordinate youth centered advocacy initiatives et district, regional and national level to enhance the youth voices in driving policy reforms within the agribusiness and non agribusiness space.


*The Youth and Engagement coordinator will drive Innovation in new areas He/she shall have strong understanding of opportunities for youth and youth -inclusive organizations that can support them on idealization.


*The BAYE Youth Engagement Coordinator will work to enhance the capacity and leadership of youth to engage in the project processes, and to address local social and economic development issues



Qualifications and Competencies:


*Passion for social justice and sustainable development


*Creativity and innovation in designing and delivering youth programs and campaigns


*Communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including staff, partners, donors, and youth


*Leadership and management skills to oversee and support youth volunteers and interns


*Knowledge and experience in youth development, education, advocacy, or related fields

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensuring the development of relevant and appropriate programmes and interventions for the organization as well as their effective and efficient execution at all levels.

• Ensuring the prudent and accountable utilization and management of the organization’s financial resources including maintaining strict adherence to established financial management policies/procedures as well as sound financial management practices.

• Creating an environment of continuous learning, where staff is encouraged and supported to grow and develop and are held accountable for their commitments and obligations.
• Maintaining excellent and productive relations with ANPPCAN external stakeholders and partners including government Ministries and institutions, donors, other civil society actors and agencies as well as other ANPPCAN Chapters and the Regional Office in Nairobi.
• Strengthening and maintaining ANPPCAN’s positive public image as a leading Child Rights and Child Protection Organization.
• Generally ensuring the smooth running of all the functions of the
National Secretariat as well as the ANPPCAN Branches and field offices.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Development Studies/ Management or Human Rights from a reputable institution.
Preference will be given to applicants with a Master’s degree in the above fields. Specialized training in any of the following fields namely; children’s rights, child protection, NGO Management, Financial management is highly advantageous.
• At least six years’ experience in a senior management position in a reputable national or international Non-Governmental Organization working in the fields of human rights and/or social development.
• Relevant experience and interest in working on rights issues with vulnerable groups especially children.
• A good understanding of and strong experience in NGO financing and financial management
• Well developed and demonstrable Leadership and Management competences
• Experience in building personal networks at a senior level and leveraging new opportunities for the organization.
• Capability in analyzing complex problems and issues, building broad team consensus and leading teams forward towards a clear direction.
• Experience in strategic leadership in areas of strategic advice, policy formulation, and process and systems development.
• Well-developed conceptual analytical skills with ability to provide expert advice in relation to formulation of development programmes for proposals.
• Ability to meet deadline
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills ( English)
• A high level of computer proficiency
• Age Limit: Between 40-55 years.

Job Description:

Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervise and advise farmers on sustainable agronomical practices
Mentor and train direct project beneficiaries
Actively mobilise community for training sessions.
Conduct training for beneficiaries.
Develop good working relationship with churches and key project stakeholders
Ensure exemplary spiritual conduct both during activities implementation and while off duty in the communities with the project area.
Write and submit periodic reports to the project manager.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

The candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Agriculture, extension, development studies or related fields.
The applicants should be mature, qualified and experienced national staff with a minimum of three years’ experience in Agriculture projects activities.
Possess practical experience in addition e.g. agronomic practices; community work, good report writing and communication skills.
Hands-on experience in Agronomy including kitchen Gardening.
Past experience in crop post-harvest technologies.
Two or more years’ experience in agriculture extension and training of farmers.
The incumbent will be responsible for implementation WRAP activities in the designated project areas.
He/She will support the project in providing technical advisory services to all the refugee farmers to enable them practice modern sustainable crop cultivation to enhance their food security.
S/he will support in implementing project activities in line with the approved work plans and also provide monitoring to assess progress against agreed objectives. S/he should possess a current riding license of class ‘A’ for motorcycles.
Working knowledge of the local language will be an added advantage.
S/he will be based in Kamwenge but should be willing to travel extensively and spend nights in the field.

Computer literacy skills (Microsoft Office)
Able to ride clutch motorcycle with Valid licence
