Key Duties and Responsibilities:

*Undertake routine and preventive maintenance of motor vehicle by checking and topping-up the level of petrol, oil, water, battery electrodes and tyre pressure before operating the vehicle.

*Regularly clean and polishing the vehicle, changing tyres as well as making minor repairs or adjustments.

*Drive motor vehicle (car and van) to transport directors, staff, clients and others to designated locations.

*Perform miscellaneous errands such as collecting and delivering mail and other items as well as buying goods, supplies and consumer items.

*Load and offload baggage, goods and other material supplies with due regard to the safety of other people.

*Maintain records of the motor vehicle’s daily activity showing journey, mileage, petrol, oil and signature of authorising officer to account for all the journeys made.

*Regulate the radio, heating, lighting and ventilation system for passenger comfort.

*Observe traffic and safety precautions in order to prevent accidents and to avoid traffic violations. In addition, undertakes first aid in case of injuries.

*Report motor vehicle accident to the traffic police and the Maintenance Officer, obtaining police abstract report and completing insurance accident report form in conformance to traffic rules and regulations.

*Requisition for petrol, lubricants and spare parts and maintaining a record accounting for the same.

*Take the motor vehicle for major service or repairs in accordance to planned preventive maintenance schedule or insurance accident report.

*Assist in performing miscellaneous tasks such as photocopying documents and cleaning the compound when not driving.

*Perform any other duties assigned to you by the immediate supervisor/Director


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

The applicants for the National Agricultural Research Organization job should possess a driving Permit without any endorsements (Valid driving permit with at least two classes.

Uganda Certificate of Education (“O” Level) with at least four passes.

Carries out routine maintenance of fire fighting and marine equipment for servicing and repairs

Tests, reconditions and replaces faulty alternators, starter motors and related items such as voltage regulators and batteries.
Repairs or replaces faulty ignition, electrical wiring, fuses, lamps and switches
Uses hand tools, specialized electrical tools, instruments and machines, including drills, grinders, presses and lathes.
Solders or welds when repairing electrical parts.
Installs, repairs and services air conditioning systems in vehicles.
Checks and tests wiring parts in older vehicles using portable instruments (non electronic vehicles)

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

The applicant should possess a good Ordinary Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Automotive) from a recognized training institution.
At least three years relevant working experience as Auto Electrician.
Technician membership of the Uganda Institute of Professional Engineers will be an added advantage.
Knowledge in Mechanical engineering and hydraulic systems is an added advantage.

Prior work experience on diagnostic equipment with excellent problem solving and fault finding skills

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

-Ensure that office and all equipment and furniture are kept clean at all times

2. Transportation and vehicle maintenance:

-Manage the prompt delivery and circulation of documents;

Job Summary:

The main responsibilities are driving and maintaining the project vehicles and assisting the regional Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant with carrying out day to day office administrative work in the regional office.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

-Drive assigned vehicle on scheduled field trips and other driving assignments as required.
-Maintain the trip log each time the vehicle is used, including: daily mileage, fill ups, oil changes, etc.
-Support monthly vehicle performance analyses and reports generation
-Initiate and supervise routine periodic maintenance of assigned vehicle.
-Initiate vehicle insurance renewals and licensing.
-Ensure the safety of the passengers and provide driving in compliance with all Ugandan traffic laws
-Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
-Maintain clean, smoke-free and safe project vehicles
-Assist with management of the front desk as needed
-Perform day to day clerical work in the regional office including photocopying and binding of official documents
-Provide logistical support to the technical teams during field based activities.
-Dispatch official documents as required

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

-The Drivers should possess at least five years working experience on a busy program
-Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
-Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tyre pressure, checking oil and water levels
-Ability to safely and efficiently operate a loaded passenger vehicle
-Possess a Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
-Self-motivated, innovative and able to work under tight time constraints
-Attention to details and follow through on assigned duties
-Experience working on donor funded programs is added advantage
