Community Relations Coordinator at Amatheon Agri in Uganda



Job Title:  Community Relations Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work in consultation with the Sustainability Manager, prepare Environmental Impact Assessments or Environmental Project Briefs for the operations
  • Identify and report on potentially arising social and environmental impacts as they may affect the Community or the Company and make recommendations on the actions required to remediate any risks identified
  • Be up to date in regards to environmental and social policy and procedure
  • Work in liaison with the Sustainability Manager, ensure absolute compliance with Amatheon social and environmental policies in regards to running operations; monitoring and reporting
  • Record performance against developed key performance indicators and periodically report on this performance
  • Update and maintain continuous communication with all affected stakeholders in the community as well as at District Level
  • Plan and implement project communications strategies with affected stakeholders and record and report stakeholder opinions
  • Take part in social baseline surveys surrounding the land being acquired
  • Actively participate in due diligence process of land being acquired
  • Work closely with the Sustainability Manager, cooperate with Communications Department by reporting about activities on the ground in a presentable format, including photographs

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The Community Relations Coordinator should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study
  • At least two years of practical work experience
  • Past experience as Community Liaison person or working in communities and holding community meetings
  • Possess the ability to relate to grass roots participants and local government officials
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited information exists;
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Be highly assertive but diplomatic
  • Working knowledge of land tenure systems and titling procedures a must
  • Mature with high degree of integrity
  • Secure when speaking in front of larger groups (community meetings)
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy skills i.e. Good Microsoft Office skills in Word
  • Fluency in Luo a must
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Deep knowledge of the Acholi culture, Acholi or Northern background
  • Reliability, Transparency and honesty a must

  • Excellent English oral and written ability
  • High degree of capacity to multi task and coordinate diverse activities under pressure in rural remote areas
