The Uganda Biodiversity Fund (UBF) is an independent Institution, ‘a Trust Fund’ established as a mechanism to provide sustainable financing for the conservation of priority biodiversity and ecosystem services in Uganda. The mission of UBF is: “to serve as a catalyst for mobilizing, managing and channeling financial resources for biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of natural resources in Uganda for the benefit of current and future generations and the intrinsic value of nature”. UBF has been implementing programmatic and management activities and undertaking financial transactions since 2017.


About USAID Project:


UBF is currently implementing five of USAID’s Uganda Biodiversity Fund Activities whose main purpose is to further develop the Uganda Biodiversity Fund into a sustainable entity that can generate and manage financing for biodiversity conservation nationwide. The goal of this activity is to ensure a reputable, well-functioning, sustainable UBF that is responsive to Uganda’s conservation and natural resources management financing needs.


Job Summary:


The Driver/Logistics Assistant will drive UBF vehicles for the conveyance of employees and stakeholders, materials, and equipment to their intended destinations, and ensure their safety as stated in the UBF policies and procedures.






Qualifications, Skills and Experience:


Minimum education:


*Minimum of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE)or its equivalent.

*A certificate in defensive driving is an added advantage.

*A certificate in motor vehicle mechanics is an added advantage.


Minimum experience:


*At least five (5) years of working experience in a similar or related position

*Computer literacy

*High level of integrity, resilience and reliability

*Excellent time management skills

*Excellent interpersonal and people skills

*Self-respect, team building, and organizational skills

*Good decision-making skills

*Good analytical and communication skills

*Ability to work under pressure and pay attention to detail

Job Summary

The Ambulance Driver will be responsible for driving the ambulance safely to emergency locations, transporting emergency personnel, transporting patients, and assisting in moving patients via stretchers.


Key Roles and Responsibilities


• Drive an ambulance safely and accurately to emergency calls; successfully pass required certifications and skills tests.

• Assist with patient care, such as transferring patients from stretcher to ambulance and transporting them to emergency care facilities.


.Assist with pre-hospital care, including CPR, lifting, and administering medication when necessary.

• Assist dispatch and medical personnel with performing patient assessments, communicating with emergency medical technicians and medical control stations, and responding appropriately to emergency situations.

Perform maintenance on the ambulance, including changing filters and fluids.

• Maintain ambulance equipment, including cleaning, repairing, and sprucing it up.

Report all emergency incidents, accidents, and dangerous conditions to dispatch.

• Assist with preparing ambulance for transport.


Qualifications and Skills Required.


• UACE or its equivalent.

• Valid government-approved driving license

• At least 3 years of Ambulance driving experience.

Job Summary:   The incumbent will drive institute vehicles that are in clean and sound mechanical condition

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

*Undertake routine and preventive maintenance of motor vehicle by checking and topping-up the level of petrol, oil, water, battery electrodes and tyre pressure before operating the vehicle.

*Regularly clean and polishing the vehicle, changing tyres as well as making minor repairs or adjustments.

*Drive motor vehicle (car and van) to transport directors, staff, clients and others to designated locations.

*Perform miscellaneous errands such as collecting and delivering mail and other items as well as buying goods, supplies and consumer items.

*Load and offload baggage, goods and other material supplies with due regard to the safety of other people.

*Maintain records of the motor vehicle’s daily activity showing journey, mileage, petrol, oil and signature of authorising officer to account for all the journeys made.

*Regulate the radio, heating, lighting and ventilation system for passenger comfort.

*Observe traffic and safety precautions in order to prevent accidents and to avoid traffic violations. In addition, undertakes first aid in case of injuries.

*Report motor vehicle accident to the traffic police and the Maintenance Officer, obtaining police abstract report and completing insurance accident report form in conformance to traffic rules and regulations.

*Requisition for petrol, lubricants and spare parts and maintaining a record accounting for the same.

*Take the motor vehicle for major service or repairs in accordance to planned preventive maintenance schedule or insurance accident report.

*Assist in performing miscellaneous tasks such as photocopying documents and cleaning the compound when not driving.

*Perform any other duties assigned to you by the immediate supervisor/Director


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

The applicants for the National Agricultural Research Organization job should possess a driving Permit without any endorsements (Valid driving permit with at least two classes.

Uganda Certificate of Education (“O” Level) with at least four passes.

Applicants should have a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience driving cars, buses and/or vans.

Age Limit: Not more than 50 years

Drive PREFA vehicles safely and in line with PREFA policy and guidelines.
