Job Summary: The Research Associate will oversee  the operations of its Microfinance Multiplied study. The study is being conducted in four BRAC branches in South-Western Uganda, namely: Kabale and Muhanga (in Kabale district), and Rukungiri and Buyanja (Rukungiri district).

Background Information:
The Medical Research Council/ Uganda Virus Research Institute (MRC/UVRI) Uganda Research Unit
on AIDS based at the Uganda Virus Research Institute, Entebbe invites applications from suitably qualified Ugandans for two posts of Scientist. The MRC/UVRI Uganda Research Unit on AIDS is a bilateral multi-disciplinary research organisation funded by the Medical Research Council (UK), DFID (UK) and other donor organisations.
We are seeking two experienced Physician Researchers to coordinate two studies on vaccination against tuberculosis within the Co-infection Studies Programme at the MRC/UVRI Uganda Research Unit on AIDS. One study will investigate factors affecting the response to BCG immunisation in infancy. The other will investigate the effect of schistosomiasis on the response to a new TB vaccine in adolescents.
Duties and responsibilities:
 The posts will be based in Entebbe at the MRC/UVRI Uganda Research Unit on AIDS. The successful candidates will be key members of the leadership of the study team, involved in planning and coordination of work in Entebbe and in nearby island communities.

Qualifications and experience:
The successful candidates should have at least 4 years' experience in clinical or epidemiological research.
The post will suit an individual who has a medical  qualification (MB ChB or equivalent) and a Master's degree, or above, in epidemiology, public health or a related discipline, as well as proven leadership and management skills.
The appointment will be for a period of 2 years in the first instance, with the possibility of extension, for the infant vaccine study, and one year for the adolescent vaccine study.
