Job Title: Administrative Assistant (secretarial and accounting)

French Agency for Development (AFD), Kampala Office, seeks a qualified Ugandan to fill the position of:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the Local Representative, the Administrative Assistant will:

• Handle administrative requirements (secretarial and logistical support),

• Manage accounting records of the office (salary, cashbook, accounting software)

• Communicate with our partners, regional office and headquarters,

• And provide daily assistance in a variety of tasks (Organisation of official visits and events, booking of temporary accommodations, etc.).

• Performs other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• At least three years of experience in administration and /or accounting.

• Ability to work independently.

• Strong interpersonal skills.

• Computer literacy Microsoft (Word, Excel, etc.).

• Excellent English written and oral communication skills.

• French speaking is compulsory.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Two-year renewable contract

Requirements

Advanced  university  degree  in   Communication, Social  Sciences  , Behavioral Sciences  , Public  Health , Nutrition  or other  related  field . A  Masters degree  in  Health  Communication is  an  added advantage .

A minimum of 5  years  experience  working  in health-related  communication , and/or  Social  and
 Behaviour  change  Communications,  and/or  social /community  mobilization

Excellent  coordination  skills  , negotiation  skills  and oral  and written  communication  skills

Must be  highly  organized  with  the ability  to  multi-task;
Ugandan nationals  are strongly  preferred

Qualifications:

• Completion  of a  diploma  in accounting ,  budgeting  or management  is required .

Work experience  required :
• Three years  of progressively  responsible  work in financial management  , particularly related  to budgeting  and funds control  is required .

• Knowledge  required. Knowledge  of budgeting  and funds  control is required .

Skills  and Abilities  required:

• Must  be able  to relate  funds  management  with mission , programs and project at post  and must be  able to  understand  budget  management  implications  of  changes in priorities .

• Should  be able to  summarise  information orally and in writing  to present  in a  present in a  precise and timely  manner .

Selection Process

• After  an initial  application  screening  , applicants  will be  invited to a  testing  process  that may  include  a written  examination  and oral  interviews .
