Programme Support Officer (Human Rights and Good Governance) at International Development Fund in Kampala

Job title: Programme Support Officer (Human Rights and Good Governance)

Reports to: Programme Support Manager
1.Main Purpose of the Post
Responsible for identifying organizational capacity gaps of the grantees and providing ensuring they receive support to strengthen organizational capacity especially in the technical areas of Human Rights and Good Governance.
2.Main Duties and Responsibilities
•Assess the technical capacity gaps of grantees and ensure initiatives are put in place to develop them to an adequate capacity
•Support realignment of grantee project results with IDF strategic goals and objectives
•Ensure strategic programmes or plans of grantees are in place and clearly reflect the work that is being supported by IDF and its sustainability
•Ensure grantees have human resource policy and procedures that provide for improvements of staff technical support in areas that are supported by IDF.
•Ensure grantees have good fundraising strategies or actions to support the sustainability of the work supported by IDF
•Coordinate general and purposeful communication to grantees with a view of capacity building.
•Ensure Grantee programme capacity gaps are addressed to a level that allows them to function normally.
•Carry out evaluation of grantee management capacity through frequent monitoring and reporting on project implementation progress and compliance with procedures.
•Perform any other tasks related to the programme support as may be required
3.Key Result Areas
•Improved performance of grantees in effective implementation of the programmes
•Timely assessment of capacity gaps
•Completion of training and capacity building programmes in a timely and cost effective manner
4.Person Specification
a.Qualifications
•Minimum of a Bachelors degree in disciplines of Human Rights and/or Good Governance
b.Experience
•Minimum of at least 3 years experience in technical support or project management
•Good knowledge of a human rights and Good Governance issues in Uganda
•A good understanding of community based approaches/understanding of development issues in Uganda and of civil society dynamics will be an added advantage.
c.Competencies
•Excellent written, oral communication and inter-personal skills, relationship building
•Analytical ability
•Team work
