Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Take lead in the implementation of the organizations media advocacy and communication strategy.
• Set up and promote media relations, provide media briefs for dissemination of population information.
• Systematize press conferences and media briefings.
• Monitor media coverage and the impact on specific target audiences.
• Develop partnership and networks with the media for promotion of population facts and innovative programmes.
• Gather and collect relevant materials, documents and publications on population and development for the resource centre, partners and the public.
• Develop and apply communications strategies that will maintain a good public image for population secretariat.
• Assess media professional training needs and organize and conduct skills development workshops.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by superiors.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• The applicant should hold a University degree in media studies, journalism, mass communication plus appropriate training in practical strategic communication and media fields.
• Editorial skills with some knowledge of population issues
• At least three years post qualification experience in the communications field preferably in a media house setting.
• Knowledge in social media will be an added advantage.

• Excellent communication skills
• Must have worked consistently as a professional counsellor for a minimum of one year.
• Knowledge and involvement in client support through the telephone is an added advantage
• Should have a strong desire to help others and be able to inspire respect, trust and confidence.
• Good command of English and any of the local language (s)
• Ability to remain calm in a crises situation
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Able to deal effectively with feelings, remain impartial and non-judgmental
• Good time management and ability to work under pressure
• Demonstrated maturity (i.e. good interpersonal skills, reliable and resolves conflicts amicably)
