About TAOU:

A charitable organization working with communities supporting orphans and vulnerable children and women in Uganda seeks to recruit a suitable person for the position of Projects Coordinator.

Job Summary: The Project coordinator will be responsible for the management and implementation of the organisation’s programmes in Uganda.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

-Ensure high quality and timely projects implementation.
-Write monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual monitoring reports relating to the progress of the projects, income and expenditure, successes and the challenges of the projects.
-Ensure reports are submitted in a timely manner, meeting reporting requirements.
-Manage the coordination of the projects monitoring and evaluation.
-Present regular progress reports to appropriate meetings.
-Develop and maintain effective links with other NGOs, CBOs, local Government, agencies etc.
-Assess programme effectiveness and identify opportunities for new projects.
-Develop new project proposals and forward to our international patterns for approval.
-Stay current with programme, understand the needs and respond to queries for information.
-Participate in and assess the impact of advocacy and capacity building.
-Carry out a baseline study at the beginning of each project.
-Manage communication with the media.
-Responsible for the management and implementation of the Monitoring & Evaluation system for all the projects.
-Develop suitable materials/strategies and carry out fundraising so as to increase funding sources for projects to benefit more poor families.
-Provide effective leadership to programme staff and other relevant personnel.
-Provide support to project managers and extension workers by frequent visits to the field.
-Prepare monthly work plan and budget.
-Oversee the compliance and implementation of annual budget within the common purpose of the programme.
-Ensure proper keeping of records and accountability relating to activities, progress, income and expenditure for the projects, inventory for all project input received and expenditure of the same
-Implement the accountability process as designed and ensure training to competence of the staff.
-Monitor and report accurately on the position of date, and future financial status on a monthly basis to relevant stakeholders for timely decision making.
-Submit timely and clear accountability to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

-The candidate must be a holder of a degree in any of the following fields -Economics, Agriculture, Veterinary, Sociology, Development or a related field.
-The candidate must be computer literate and well conversant with the following packages – MS Access, excel, PowerPoint, Word and Internet applications plus other packages such as statistical analysis.
-Ability to speak Luo would be an added advantage. Experience:
-The ideal candidate should possess eight years senior field experience with credibility to provide direction, support and oversight in managing projects.
-Should understand the critical success factors in community development and have designed and managed projects that created real impact.
-Must have strong skills in training of trainers, projects writing and communication (writing and verbal) and able to think outside the development box.
-Must have experience in cross cutting issues of gender, disability, HIV/AIDS, land advocacy, agro-business and climate change.
-Must have had experience in planning, development and implementation of new projects in the fields indicated.
-Ability to write proposals and seek funding from local and international donors
-Ability to deliver on key deliverables with minimum reminders and on time.
-Excellent ability to analyse information.
-An inclusive, supportive and participatory approach to working with others.
-A self motivated approach to delivering programmes.
-Must have very good communication skills with all sectors of the community and agencies.
-Time management in the delivery of project programmes is essential.
