Rift REDD Programme Manager

Job Description:
The Albertine Rift REDD Program Manager will be responsible
for the development of REDD projects along the Albertine Rift in Uganda, DRC,
Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania including project design, data collection, technical
analysis and drafting project documents, (e.g. PDDs for the voluntary carbon
market and ER-PINs for partner countries of the FCPF).
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicants should hold a PhD degree in forestry or conservation biology
- At least ten years of professional experience in forestry or related fi eld with proven track record in REDD project development, extensive knowledge of voluntary and compliance carbon markets, particularly the FCPF and UN-REDD.
- Skills in Remote sensing, modeling, fieldwork, statistical analysis skills, project management, and budgeting and planning
- Proven experience in developing biomass inventories, ground truthing land use classifications and designing and implementing socio-economic surveys Required: Knowledge of current climate change policy globally and in Uganda, and emerging protocols and strategies (e.g. NAPAs, NAMAs, UNFCC, REDD+ emerging safeguards)
- Past fundraising experience, proposal writing and budget development from government/agency and private sources
- Significant work experience in Uganda, knowledge of Uganda environmental and conservation political issues
- Past experience working in multicultural environment of an international NGO is an added advantage
- Fluent English and French Preferred:
