Economist/Statistician Job Vacancy at Makerere University in Kampala

JOB TITLE: ECONOMIST/STATISTICIAN

Job Role: To provide support in collection, maintenance, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of data and information pertaining to planning and decision making.

Reports to: Senior Economist

Salary Scale: M6

Tenure of Appointment: Permanent

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(i) Collect, maintain, analyze, interpret and disseminate data and information pertaining to support functions of the University.
(ii) Participates in the analysis of student attrition , repetition and graduation rates on all programs
(iii) Undertake relevant research and write reports
(iv) Participates in the update of Full Time Student Equivalent (FTSEs) database for all Colleges
(v) Participates in the Analysis of instructional contribution of different schools to all undergraduate academic programs
(vi) Participates in the Analysis of demand trends for all academic programs
(vii) Monitor and forecast student and staff trends and identify research and data needs to support the core functions of the university.
(viii) Participates in the preparation of the Fact Book
(ix) Participates in data collection from colleges and non- teaching units for the University’s annual report
(x) Participates in the preparation of the University Annual Report
(xi) Perform any other duties assigned by the Director

(iii) FTSE and Workload database

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES
•A honors Bachelors’ Degree in Economics, Commerce, Statistics or Business Administration.
•A Masters’ degree in Educational Policy, Planning and Management, Economics or Business Administration.
•Minimum of 2 years working in a corporate planning department preferably in an institution of higher learning
•Demonstrated applied quantitative research, modeling, problem solving, critical and strategic thinking
•Excellent presentation and communication skills
•A team player with good interpersonal relation.
