Job Purpose/Objective:
To repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment in the plant to minimize breakdowns
Position Responsibilities:
Reports to Productions Officer
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist in the installation of new machines in the plant.
• Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Correctly use and Maintain P.P.E’s at all times.
• Report and assist in the analysis of incidents or potential hazards.
• Monitor and record the use of work place consumables and make requisitions where required.
• Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
• Use and maintain workshop tooling in accordance to working conditions and specifications.
• Daily check and confirm that machines meet safety standards
• Plans and develops work schedules, equipment usage schedules and procedures for equipment maintenance.
• Diagnose mechanical problems and carry out corrective maintenance where possible and refer complex situations to the Mechanical Supervisor
• Prepare daily maintenance reports for submission to the Mechanical Supervisor and Production Officer
• Provide operational support to the Machine Operators
• General housekeeping and machinery.
Personal Specification:
Higher or Ordinary Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Candidates must have at least 2 years experience of Mechanical repair and maintenance in a manufacturing industry.
