Job Description:

Duties and Responsibilities:

Actively facilitate planning, review and feedback sessions with management structures and other stakeholders, including caregivers, community health worker, volunteers, etc.
The incumbent will organize and actively participate in ECCD program /project research, assessments or evaluations undertaken in the operation areas as may be deemed necessary.
Regularly collect and analyze data to identify, document and disseminate key learning /best practices through photos, video clips, interviews, and most significant change stories from parenting program and ECCD Centers
Routinely share project information to contribute to quality sponsorship communications, such as the Program Area Updates (PAU), Development Education & Communication (DEC) among others.
Ensure the project interventions and activities are closely aligned and contributing to the Plan Uganda country programs, including promoting and supporting integration with Plan’s sponsorship commitments and Child Centered Community Development Standards, child protection, gender among others
Identify and establish a supportive relationship with community volunteers, champions or leaders from within target communities to foster the awareness and sensitization on the importance of ECCD.
Build community capacity through empowerment Village Savings and Loan activities for household Village Savings & Loan Association (VSLA).
Proactively encourage and facilitate the inclusion of the most marginalized households and children within the GS CLAC project and maintain information on sponsored families/children participating in the project
Organize and provide supportive supervision and mentorship, and on-the-job training to trained CHWs/positive deviant volunteers and ECCD caregivers during home visits and PD hearth sessions.
Actively participate in community and district level forums to ensure visibility of ECCD and its integration into meeting agendas. Use these forums to sensitize key community and district stakeholders on ECCD.
Engage the community in mobilizing and leveraging resources to enhance desirable ECCD outcomes specifically through support and facilitation of community contributions to create a conducive environment to positive ECCD outcomes.
Organize and directly facilitate trainings, on job mentoring sessions and other capacity building initiatives for ECCD caregivers, PD volunteers and other Stakeholders targeted in the program;
Ensure Plan’s Child Protection Policy and Guidelines are adhered to in project implementation

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate for the Plan International Project Coordinator vacancy should hold a degree in Project management, Social Sciences, Social Work, Education, Nutrition, Public Health or any Health-related discipline. Possession of a Post-graduate training in Public Health or Project Management or certificate / diploma in ECCD is an added advantage
At least three years’ experience with ability to work in rural community set up in Kamuli District—including community mobilization, demand creation for services, and direct engagement with community members.
General technical knowledge of issues related to maternal and child health and nutrition and ECCD is highly desired.
Proven ability to facilitate trainings and other events.
Working knowledge of Child centred pedagogy and child friendly school environment.
Awareness of current issues in the field of development, Education for All (EFA), Nutrition and ECCD.
Use of participatory approaches and rights based programming.
Possess the ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Ability to ride a motorcycle with valid riding permit.
Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills in English.
Ability to travel to the field up to 60 percent of the time.
Good knowledge and understanding of the Ministry of Health's community health service provision in maternal and child health and nutrition, nutritional counselling and health talks, child immunizations, treatment of childhood illnesses, etc
Excellent budget management and documentation skills (e.g. photography, case studies, reporting writing, filming maintaining database).
