Job Description:
Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Mobilize farmers groups to undertake commercial
agricultural farming practices by planting
high yielding crop and carry out a farmers training in specific crops with tangible
disbursement amounts and client numbers.
·
Link the farmers to a market or develop a
marketing strategy to benefit the farmers during harvest time.
·
Develop an agricultural Training curriculum and
promotional material for least 4 crops; with specific details on planting,
spacing, use and application of seed, fertilizer, herbicide, pesticide and
post-harvest handling, etc.
·
Set up demonstration gardens on ECLOF farm on
identified crops and advise management on topography plans.
Job requirements:
·
A degree in Agriculture plus Post graduate
qualification in Agronomy.
·
Qualifications and experience in agronomy
especially commercial agriculture, animal, crop husbandry
·
Knowledge of inherent risks associated with
specific crops such as sunflower, Maize, beans and horticulture and domestic
animals such as cattle, etc.
·
Experience in training commercial farmers in
agricultural activities such as planting, spacing, seed variety, post-harvest
handling, irrigation, crop insurance, etc.
·
Experience in developing demonstration farms,
marketing strategies, seed contracts and long term partnership.
·
Experience in agricultural microfinance and FEW
an added advantage.
