Director of Programmes Vacancy at Africa 2000 Network- Uganda

Job Title: Director of Programmes

Organization: Africa 2000 Network- Uganda

Reports to: Executive Director

About A2N:

The Africa 2000 Network Uganda is a local Non-Government Organization (NGO) registered with the National Board for Registration of Non-Government Organizations and duly registered with the Ministry of Justice as a Company Limited with Guarantee without share capital. A2N- Uganda has been operating as an NGO since 2002 and has a national mandate to reach out to small and medium farmers in rural and semi-urban areas of Uganda to improve farming practices, increase productivity and production at household level to foster food and nutritional security and organizing farmers for market oriented farming to boost household incomes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

-Offer technical guidance to the field team leaders in planning, budgeting, monitoring, evaluation and reporting periodically and motivate them to deliver excellent results.
-Review progress reports, budgets and work plan from the regional offices, and prepare integrated and/or consolidated reports for timely submission to various stakeholders and partners.
-Participate in A2N-Uganda budgeting processes and Budget supervision.
-Receive and review M&E reports from the M&E Regional offices and put information together in management and impact reports to be shared internally and with other stakeholders.
-Travel widely in the operation areas to undertake quality and value for money assurance of regional projects.
-Monitor, evaluate and assess services delivery and staff performance periodically and recommend to management strategic measures to address the identified capacity needs of staff and effective services delivery requirements.
-Develop technical and organizational manuals, handbooks and other publications and guide staff (in regional and head offices) on their utilization and/or implementation.
-Represent A2N-uganda in assigned partner networks and stakeholder’ meetings, workshops and other for a whenever required.
-Explore funding and other opportunities and engage in resource mobilization, fundraising initiatives and project proposals development for the organization at all levels (National and Regional).
-Nurture lasting partnerships with donors, beneficiaries, central and local governments and other development actors and spearhead advocacy initiatives for A2N-Uganda and/or with other partners.
-Develop materials for A2N-uganda promotion, visibility and public relations.
-Any other tasks as shall be assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

-The candidates should hold a Masters Degree in any of the field related to his/her first degree in either agriculture or Agribusiness, Natural Resource Management, Development Studies, Management, Administration, Project Planning and Management
-Experience - In Public and Donor funded development projects management and accounting
-At least 5 years experience in NGO sector or related field in a senior management position.
-Proven management and leadership skills with ability to lead and ensure product of results.
-Sound and objective judgment and ability to plan and organize own work and others efficiently.
-Adequate understand of the Civil Society sector in Uganda and how they work
-Good listener, outgoing personality, friendly, open with high degree of integrity and self motivation.
-Good understanding of programming, project cycle management, strategic planning, advocacy, monitoring and evaluation.
-Excellent analytical, planning and organizational skills
-Work under pressure and deliver quality results.
-Fundraising skills and experience in negotiating funding for medium and large scale projects.
-Excellent report and proposal writing skills.
-Ability to coach, mentor and pass on skills to others
-Capacity to travel extensively within the country
-Good photography, video and other audio visual operation skills (an added advantage).
-Age: 30-45Years
